William P. “Bill” Griffin
was born in Fort Wayne, IN
in 1957, and grew up in Boulder,
CO. He and his wife Terry have lived
in Springfield
since 1995. They have three adult children.
Dr. Griffin completed a BA
in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Biblical Languages at Evangel College (now University) in 1985. In
1988 he earned a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University
with an emphasis in Old Testament and Hebrew. In 1995 he earned his Ph.D. in
Old Testament from Emory
University. His
dissertation (published as The God of the
Prophets) used content analysis
to examine divine activity in some prophetic literature. He also did
reconstruction and translation of Dead Sea Scrolls. He is Associate Professor
of Old Testament and Hebrew at Evangel
University, where he has
taught since 1995. He is currently writing an introductory Biblical Hebrew
